The event pass in Apple and Google Wallet
Every registration mints a pass, the pass carries the email, and the design is yours company-wide with a per-event override.
A participant’s ticket is a wallet pass — the card that lives in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet with their QR code on it. It is what they hold up at the door, and it is the reason check-in works without anybody printing anything.
There is no separate step to issue one. A pass is minted as part of registering, and the registration email carries the links that add it to a phone.
What you design, and what you cannot
This page sets the pass for the whole company: an Apple pass logo, a Google pass logo, a banner image, and three colours — background, foreground and label. Two previews show an Apple and a Google pass as you change them.
The two logos are different sizes because the two platforms are, and neither
scales the other’s gracefully. Both want a .png.
Two of the three colours are Apple-only. Foreground is the pass’s text and label is the smaller caption above each value, and Google’s format has no equivalent for either — so a Google pass follows the background colour and its own conventions for the rest. Judge a colour choice on both previews, not one.
Where an event overrides it
An organiser can override any of the three colours for their own event, and can opt an event out of passes entirely. A colour left blank on an event follows the company design, so an override is per colour rather than all-or-nothing.
That is the seam to remember when an event’s passes look wrong while everybody else’s look right: the override is on the event, not here.
What this does not control
- Whether an event issues passes. Every registration does by default; opting out is a per-event decision.
- What is on the pass. The event’s name, time, place and the participant’s QR come from the event and the registration. The time shown is the event’s own local time, and it stays that way on a phone set to another time zone — a guest travelling in reads the hour the event actually starts, not a converted one.
- The QR code itself. It carries the participant’s registration code, and that is what the door scanner reads.
