The public event link doesn't open

An event’s public page only exists while its status is Publish. A draft has never had one, and pausing, closing or cancelling takes it away again — which is what makes this the usual cause after somebody “just tidied up” a finished programme.

The fastest check is the Public page column on the events list, which is a single yes/no covering every condition on this page at once. Turn it on if it is hidden, and look at the event’s row.

Publishing an event does not open it to anybody in particular. Visible to external participants is a separate switch on the event itself, and with it off the event is published, findable by colleagues, and invisible outside.

This is the one to suspect when the event works for staff and not for guests. It is set by whoever runs the event, in the app, under the event’s registration settings — not in the console.

Where Individual event page is off, no event gets a page of its own, however it is configured. The visitor sees This event page is not available.

That message is the tell: it means the page was deliberately turned off rather than the event being missing. Both this switch — at the top of Event page, under Public page design — and the event’s own settings have to allow it.

A blank page — no message, no error — is the list page with Public event list, at the top of the Event list design page, switched off. It is not a broken link and nothing has crashed; the page simply renders nothing.

Anybody holding an old link to the list will see this. If you meant to keep individual events reachable but not advertise the whole programme, that is a supported arrangement and the fix is to hand out the event’s own link instead of the list’s.
